Your recommended hairstyles, shown on you
✓ Long soft wavesframes your cheekbones, soft at your chin
✓ Collarbone lobfullness at chin level
✗ High ponytailpulls everything back; nothing balances your cheekbones
✗ Short cropno softness at your chinYour hair today: thick, with lots of volume and soft natural waves. The hairstyles below work with that texture.
Define the waves1. A little wave cream or mousse in damp hair. 2. Squeeze the hair upwards with your hands. 3. Let it dry on its own, or with a hairdryer and diffuser on low.
Keep the colour freshHeat protection before styling. If you colour your hair, ask your hairdresser for a gloss every 6 to 8 weeks: a quick shine treatment that keeps your gold warm instead of orange.
Your hair colours, shown on you
When you colour your hair, ask for these three things:
1. Close to your rootsLook for: shades within two steps of your golden brown roots. Brings out: your soft, balanced contrast, never washed out or harsh.
2. Warm, not ashLook for: golden, honey and caramel tones. Brings out: the warm glow in your skin. Skip ash and grey.
3. Light around your faceLook for: lighter pieces at the front. Brings out: your grey eyes, with light right next to them.
✓ Butterscotch balayagetop pick: warmer around your face
✓ Toasted almondwarm, a little deeper
✗ Strawberry blondetoo bright, takes over
✗ Cool ash blondetoo cool, your skin looks greyer Less for you: a heavy blunt fringe with flat sides. It hides your cheekbones and adds no softness at your chin.Your face: widest at your cheekbones, narrow chin
Fullness at chin level. Your chin is the narrowest part of your face; waves there balance your wider cheekbones.Frame at the cheekbones. Pieces falling past them show them off without adding width. No height on top. Volume at the crown makes your face look longer and your chin narrower.
Patterns and fabrics
Contrast: same stripe, only the colours change
Best: soft contrast
Not yours: hard contrast Soft contrast sits with your medium contrast; black and white is seen first.Print: earthy nature vs hard graphic
Best: earthy nature print
Not yours: hard graphic Soft, blended nature prints repeat your warm colours; hard black and white edges take over. Print size: same colours, only the size changes
Best: larger print
Less for you: small print Your features are medium to bold, so a larger print matches you; a small print looks busy. Finish: same colour, only the surface changes
Best: matte
Less for you: high gloss Soft colouring suits matte and a soft sheen; hard gloss takes over.
Your patterns: soft, earthy, medium to large.
WearMedium to large prints · your features are medium to boldLow contrast prints · your colouring is softNature prints: leaves, florals, paisley · they echo your warm coloursMatte and soft sheen · shine matches your soft colouring

Stripes: vertical adds length, horizontal adds width. You are tall and balanced, so both work.

Already balanced: your shoulders and hips. Nothing to hide or even out.Add: a waist. Belts, wraps, peplums and fitted jackets give your straight line a curve.Show off: your long legs. High waists, wide legs and midis make the most of them.Skip: pieces that hang straight from shoulder to hip. They hide the waist you have.
What flatters your shape
Show your waistA belt, a wrap or a tie front gives you a waist and an hourglass line.
Add curves at the hipA-line and bias-cut skirts flare out at the hip and give you curves.
Go sleek and straightA straight, fitted top and straight-leg trousers in the same colour make one long line from shoulder to shoe.
Show off long legsWide trousers and midis. A high waist makes legs look even longer.
Peplum topThe flare adds shape at the waist and the hip.
Belted blazerA belt draws a waist on a straight jacket.
Belted coatThe same trick for coats: tie it at the waist.
Belted jumpsuitOne long line, with the waist marked.
Less for you: straight shift dressA chic dress, but with no waist it makes your straight frame look straighter. Add a belt or pick one with a waist seam.
Less for you: cropped boxy blazerButtoned over straight trousers, a boxy jacket makes your frame look square. Wear it open over a fitted top, or pick one with a nipped waist.
Less for you: boxy blazer, buttonedButtoned with no waist, it makes you look square. The same blazer worn open or belted works on you.
Less for you: dropped waistThe seam sits on your hips, so it hides your waist and shortens your legs. Pick a dress that marks your natural waist.
Less for you: boxy and straightClosed over straight trousers, a straight blazer makes you look square. Open over a fitted top, it works.
Less for you: long tunicA tunic to mid thigh hides your waist and cuts your legs short.
